Tribunal Representation

We offer help on the whole range of Benefit Tribunals and can advise on, prepare and usually provide someone to go along with you to the hearing to help you present your case. We can also help you fill in forms and write letters on your behalf.

A decision may have been made about your benefits that you may disagree with. We will do our best to help you to decide what can be done, if anything, about the decision. You may have the right to ask the people who have made the decision about you to revise their decision. If this is not the case you may have the right to appeal to an independent Tribunal. Most Tribunals are held in Sheffield on Saville Street in a purpose built office not in courtrooms. They are run by a legally qualified chair who may have assistance from medical or other qualified parties. Doctors do not examine you unless you are appealing to a medical Tribunal.

You can challenge decisions about Social Security Benefits (SSATs) Disability Benefits (DATS), Disablement Benefits (MATS), Child Support (CSATS) and Housing/Council Tax Benefits (HBR).

Time scales for asking for a revised decision or an appeal are short. You will usually only have one month from the date of the decision to register your case.

We will discuss your options with you and advise you if you need to get evidence to support your case (ie a supporting letter from your GP or hospital).
